Tourism Perak Organises Digital Marketing Course in Gerik to Strengthen Tourism Industry Ahead of Visit Malaysia 2026





GERIK, 18 August 2025 – The course was officiated by YBhg. Dato’ Mohamad Kamil bin Dato’ Haji Shafie, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tourism Perak. Also present were YBrs. Encik Ananthirawit a/l Prawat, Senior Headman of Gerik, and Encik Zulhymi Effendy bin Zakaria, Officer of the Tourism Perak Development Division, demonstrating strong institutional support for building capacity among local tourism stakeholders.
Delivered by digital marketing practitioner Cikgu Anna Aziz (Tutoring TSP), the training provided practical guidance on managing social media platforms, producing high-quality digital content, and leveraging emerging trends to attract a wider audience. Participants gained hands-on experience to strengthen competitiveness and drive sustainable growth in the tourism sector.
In his address, Dato’ Mohamad Kamil emphasised the importance of digital readiness:
“This course is an important step in empowering our local tourism players. By strengthening their digital capabilities, we are ensuring that Perak remains visible and attractive to a global audience as we approach Visit Malaysia 2026.”
The initiative forms part of Tourism Perak’s broader agenda to advance digital transformation across the state’s tourism ecosystem, prioritising innovation, service quality, and sustainable growth. Rural and heritage-rich areas such as Gerik and Lenggong are expected to benefit from increased visibility in global travel markets.
Through programmes like this Digital Marketing Course, Tourism Perak reaffirms its commitment to enhancing visitor experiences, boosting Perak’s visibility, and positioning the state as a must-visit destination for both domestic and international tourists.
World Tiger Day 2025 in Gerik Highlights Malayan Tiger Conservation





GERIK, 21 August 2025 – The programme, organised with RIMAU, included awareness campaigns, educational activities, and community ranger programmes. Participants learned about threats to the Malayan tiger, such as habitat loss, poaching, and human-wildlife conflict, and were encouraged to take part in conservation efforts.
Perak’s government reaffirmed its support for initiatives that protect wildlife while promoting eco-tourism. With Gerik near the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex a key tiger habitat, the event highlighted the state’s important role in preserving Malaysia’s natural heritage.
World Tiger Day 2025 reminded everyone that protecting the Malayan tiger is a shared responsibility, ensuring this iconic species thrives for future generations.
Kampung Kuak Hulu in Gerik Shows Strong Tourism Potential



GERIK, 26 September 2024 – Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, whose mother was born in the village, shared her childhood memories of its natural beauty during a recent visit.
The village hosts activities such as the rakit (raft) race, the loma fish festival, hiking trails, and offers traditional local food. Around 1,700 residents from 349 families live in the village, mostly working in agriculture, fishing, animal husbandry, and small businesses.
Local infrastructure requests, including improvements to roads, the futsal court, and the school, have been approved. Progress will be monitored in follow-up visits.
This initiative is part of the Santuni MADANI: Satu Pemimpin, Satu Kampung programme, which aims to support rural communities and their development.
